UnknownCertified is a privacy certification issued by UnknownCompany. We go through the system ourselves — manually — and verify that it meets our three core criteria. No questionnaires. No automated scans. We look at the actual system.
To receive an UnknownCertified certificate, an app or company must meet all three criteria — no partial certifications, no workarounds.
We verify each criterion ourselves by reviewing the actual system, code, infrastructure and internal policies. Not by taking someone's word for it.
Only data that is strictly necessary for the service is collected. No data stored "just in case", no unnecessary fields, no silent tracking. If it isn't needed to deliver the service, it isn't collected.
Data is secured and access is strictly limited. Not everyone inside the organisation can read user data. Access is role-based, logged, and limited to what is necessary for each function.
The company does not sell, share or monetise personal data with third parties. No advertising networks, no data brokers, no analytics platforms that take your data off-platform.
The process is straightforward. You submit your information, we review the actual system, and we let you know whether you qualify — or what needs to change.
You fill in the application form and describe how your system works — what data you collect, how it is stored, who has access, and what your policies are. No technical jargon required.
We manually review your system. Depending on the type of application this includes code review, infrastructure checks, access control verification, and policy review. We do this ourselves — no automated tools.
If all three criteria are met, your application or company receives the UnknownCertified certificate. If not, you receive detailed feedback on what needs to change before we can certify.
The cost of certification depends on the size and complexity of the system being audited. A simple app requires less time than a full company infrastructure.
All prices are for a one-time audit. Re-certification after significant system changes is treated as a new audit.
If your app or company already meets our three criteria, the audit is a formality. If you're not sure — apply anyway. We'll tell you what needs to change.
